The AO Foundation is a medically guided nonprofit organization led by an international group of surgeons specialized in the treatment of trauma and disorders of the musculoskeletal system. Founded in 1958 by 13 visionary surgeons, AO today fosters one of the most extensive networks of currently more than 5’000 surgeons, operating room personnel, and scientists in over 100 countries.

The AO Research Institute (ARI) in Davos, Switzerland, performs basic research in the area of bone biology, biomechanics and tissue reactions to implant materials and the patho-physiology of trauma.

Within the AO Research Institute the following one-year position has arisen

Postdoc Position in the Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering Program (TE)

The assignment is limited to one year

Project details:
The project is focused on tissue engineering construct for cartilage repair and involves the development and the characterization of hyaluronic acid based hydrogel, the engineering of TE construct and the in vitro and in vivo evaluation of the material. The appointed student will work in a multidisciplinary environment in the Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering Program headed by Dr. Mauro Alini at the ARI.

Your requirements profile:
The successful applicant will hold a PhD in the field of polymers chemistry, biomaterials or engineering. Experience in biopolymers, hydrogels and bioencapsulation is highly relevant.
